Proper Application of Solvent Cement
To achieve the best results and ensure strong bonding, follow these steps when using our PVC, CPVC, or UPVC solvent cement:
Prepare the Pipe & Fittings
- Cut the pipe to the required length, ensuring a square cut for a precise fit.
- Remove burrs and rough edges using a deburring tool or sandpaper.
- Wipe the joining surfaces clean and dry using a cloth.
Apply the Solvent Cement
- Use the brush provided with the cap to apply a uniform coat of solvent cement on the outer surface of the pipe and the inner socket depth of the fitting.
Assemble the Joint
- Insert the pipe into the fitting while the cement is still wet.
- Rotate the pipe slightly for better adhesion and alignment.
- Hold the joint firmly for 60 to 90 seconds to prevent displacement.
Curing Time
- Allow the joint to set for at least 15 minutes for initial handling.
- Full curing time depends on pipe size, temperature, and pressure requirements.
Important: Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines, as application and curing times may vary between different brands.
