UPVC Solvent Cement
KG Plastochem's UPVC Solvent Cement is an essential adhesive solution designed for joining pipes and fittings with a strong and leak-proof bond. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:
Water supply systems at varying temperatures and pressures
Drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) systems
Sewer systems
Gas pipelines
Electrical conduit fittings
For optimal joint strength, it is recommended to use this solvent cement with a primer and cleaner. It is crucial not to dilute the product with thinners or additives, as this may compromise its effectiveness.
Plastochem CPVC Solvent Cement
Plastochem CPVC Solvent Cement is a heavy-bodied, slow-set adhesive specifically formulated for joining PVC and CPVC pipes and fittings. Its thick and viscous consistency allows for excellent gap-filling properties, making it ideal for both large-diameter and small-diameter pipes. Due to its slow setting nature, it provides a strong, durable bond while allowing adequate time for alignment and adjustment during installation.
Advantages of Plastochem Solvent Cements:
Highly Reliable & Leak-Proof: The solvent-welded plumbing system ensures long-lasting, leak-free joints.
Lead-Free & Safe: It is a healthier and eco-friendly alternative to traditional GI piping systems.
Certified Quality Assurance: Our uPVC solvent cement is BIS and NSF (USA) certified, while our CPVC solvent cement carries NSF (USA) certification.
Ideal for High-Pressure Systems: Designed for use in high-pressure plumbing and drainage applications, ensuring long-term reliability and resistance to leaks.
For larger-sized pipes, it is recommended to use a primer before application to enhance adhesion and bonding strength.
Why Choose UPVC Solvent Cement for High-Pressure Drainage Systems?
High-pressure piping systems must withstand significant stress and demanding environments. Unlike standard drainage systems, these pipelines are required to handle:
Large volumes of wastewater
Industrial-grade chemical exposure
Heavy loads and external environmental factors
The Role of Solvent Cement in Leak-Proof Piping Systems
Solvent cements act as chemical welding agents, bonding plastic pipes and fittings into a single, unified structure. This process ensures:
Superior durability in high-pressure applications
Resistance to leaks and structural damage
Long-term performance under extreme conditions
Key Benefits of Using UPVC Solvent Cement:
Superior Bonding Strength:
Creates a permanent, leak-proof joint
Ensures maximum load-bearing capacity under high pressure
Easy Application:
Requires minimal surface preparation
Allows for quick and effortless installation
Durability & Longevity:
Resistant to corrosion, chemicals, and harsh environmental conditions
Extends the lifespan of the drainage system

Application Guide: How to Use UPVC & CPVC Solvent Cement
Cut the Pipe: Ensure a clean and precise cut for a proper fit.
Surface Preparation:
Remove burrs and rough edges.
Clean both the outer pipe surface and inner socket surface thoroughly.
Check Dry Fit:
Insert the pipe into the fitting to check proper fitment.
Use Plastochem Primer if required.
Apply Solvent Cement:
Using a suitable applicator, apply even coats of Plastochem UPVC or CPVC solvent cement on both surfaces.
Apply a second coat on the pipe for a stronger bond.
Assembly & Bonding:
Insert the pipe into the socket while twisting it 45°-90° to evenly distribute the solvent cement.
Hold in place for at least 30 seconds to ensure proper bonding.
Wipe Excess & Allow Curing:
Remove any excess cement immediately.
Let the joint set undisturbed for at least one hour before testing.
Curing Time Guidelines:
Good handling strength: 5 minutes
Full strength up to 160 psi: 30 minutes (for pipe sizes up to 2")
For larger pipes or low temperatures: Allow longer cure time
Keep partially used containers sealed immediately after use.
